The Central Christian Parents Association was formed to bring cohesiveness between parents, students and faculty and to promote school spirit.  The CCPA is a vital part of CCS in organizing special programs and events.  These parents organize and serve during events like Grandparents Day, School Cookout and Teacher Appreciation Days.  They plan parties for classes that reach Accelerated Reader goals and assist teachers as needed.  The CCPA is also responsible for operating and maintaining the Barney Bucks store on a quarterly basis for the students.  All the Spirit Day shirts and other spirit paraphernalia are available from the CCPA and proceeds go directly back to the school to provide much-needed wish list items for our teachers – items that teachers may not otherwise have access to during the year.  The CCPA firmly believes in supporting the school and other ministry opportunities financially and will have fundraising events throughout the year to help as needed.  If you would like more information or would like to join this fantastic organization, please email ccpa@ccssaints.com

Teacher Appreciation

We love our teachers and want to make sure they know it.  The CCPA uses the funds raised to sponsors monthly teacher appreciation gifts.  This could be a breakfast, luncheon, or small gift.  In May, there is an entire week called Teacher Appreciation Week and this gives the students and the CCPA the opportunity to show how much the teachers mean to us.  We want to honor the lasting contributions that they make in our lives.

Barney Bucks Store

What are Barney Bucks?  Barney Bucks are reward “dollars” and are named after our mascot, Barney the St. Bernard.  Students earn Barney Bucks from their teachers for good behavior during the day.  After saving their “money”, they get the opportunity to spend their Barney Bucks at the Barney Bucks store.

The store is managed and set up by parent volunteers and operates once a month in the gym.  The students love to shop and spend their Barney Bucks on various treats such as toys, candy, supplies, and gift cards.  If they chose to, they can save their bucks for a bigger item in the store.  The CCPA values the parents who volunteer and all donations for the Barney Bucks store are gratefully accepted and deeply appreciated.

Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a software program for kindergarten through 8th grade. It is used to monitor the practice of reading. It was created by Renaissance Learning, Inc. There are two versions: a desktop and web-based version in Renaissance Place, the company’s online portal. To login, click the button link below.

What is Accelerated Reader (AR)?

AR is a computer program that helps teachers and librarians manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Your child picks a book at his own level and reads it at his own pace. When finished, your child takes a short quiz on the computer. (Passing the quiz is an indication that your child understood what was read.) AR gives children, teachers, and librarians feedback based on the quiz results, which the teacher then uses to help your child set goals and direct ongoing reading practice.
